Dr. Joseph S. Auteri, MD, FACS, Medical Director, The Heart Institute of Doylestown Hospital,   Presents: The Heart of the Matter is a Matter of the Heart

Dr. Auteri grew up in Warminster and attended Central Bucks East High School where he first honed his leadership skills as quarterback of the Patriot football team and met his wife Maia. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a B.A. in biochemical sciences and recieved his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

His post graduate training was at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in Ny where he did his internship and residency in general surgery and was the chief resident in surgery. Continuing trainng at Columbia as a resident in cardiothroatic surgery, he alos completed a research fellowship in cardiopulminary trasplantation. He has published extensively in the field of heart and lung transplation and in the use of lasers in cardiovascular surgery.

Dr. Auteri moved to Phoenix in 1994 joining the staff of the Arizona Heart Institute where he practiced until 1999 when he moved to Scottsdale, AZ to serve as Medical Director of the Scottsdale Heart Center. In 2005, he relocated to Portsmouth, VA to become Medical Director of the Bon Secours Heart Institute, an affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

In May 2007, Dr. Auteri returned home where he was appointed Medical Director of the Heart Institute of Doylestown Hospital in Doylestown, PA. Dr. Auteri's years of experience in cardiac surgery combined with his extraordinary leadership skills have ideally positioned him to guide one of Delaware Valley's fastest growing and highest quality cardiac progams.
